BTS, the seven-member South Korean K-pop group that has built a massive international following, is bringing its world tour to movie theaters across more than 80 countries and territories, extending the reach of its concerts far beyond traditional live venues.

The group’s upcoming performances in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Jakarta, Indonesia, will be screened at approximately 3,300 and 2,800 cinema locations, respectively. The November 21 Kaohsiung concert and December 29 Jakarta show are part of BTS’s Arirang world tour.

The initiative illustrates how the global music industry is expanding into theatrical distribution, a business traditionally dominated by Hollywood films. By bringing concerts to movie screens, artists can reach audiences unable to attend live performances, while theater operators gain access to entertainment beyond conventional movie releases. The potential financial returns from the BTS screenings have not been disclosed.

The announcement follows a successful South American tour that drew 853,000 fans across 14 concerts in five cities. BTS concluded that leg of its tour last month at Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil, demonstrating the scale of its international concert audience.

The theatrical broadcasts will give fans an opportunity to experience the performances through large cinema screens and theater sound systems. Depending on time zones, screenings will take place either live or within one or two days after each concert.

BTS announced the screenings on November 2 through Weverse, a fan community platform widely used by K-pop artists. Ticket sales are scheduled to begin November 5. In South Korea, the performances will be available through the country’s three major movie theater chains, CGV, Lotte Cinema and Megabox.

The group has previously brought concerts to theaters during tour stops in South Korea, Japan, Argentina and Brazil. The latest screenings will continue that approach as BTS moves into the Asian leg of its world tour.

The upcoming schedule includes 15 concerts across five cities, beginning November 19 in Kaohsiung before continuing through Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta. BTS will perform three shows in Kaohsiung on November 19, 21 and 22, followed by three concerts in Jakarta on December 26, 27 and 29.

The global theatrical rollout demonstrates how a major K-pop tour can reach audiences beyond the limits of concert venues. It also offers another example of how live music and movie theaters are becoming increasingly connected as entertainment companies seek additional ways to distribute performances internationally.
