Seoul, South Korea, August 25, 2026 — LOTTE Biologics (Co-CEOs James Park and Yoo-yeol Shin) is strengthening its ESG competitiveness in the global biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) market, following recognition of the sustainable design and construction of Plant 1 at its Songdo Bio Campus.
LOTTE Biologics announced that Plant 1 at the Songdo Bio Campus received an “Excellent” rating under the Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design (G-SEED) from the Korea Research Institute of Eco-Environmental Architecture.
G-SEED is a national green building certification program jointly administered by Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. It evaluates the environmental performance of buildings throughout their lifecycle—from design and construction to operation and maintenance—based on criteria such as energy and resource efficiency, pollutant reduction, and indoor environmental quality.
Under G-SEED criteria, Songdo Plant 1 underwent a comprehensive assessment across seven categories, including land use and transportation; energy and environmental pollution; materials and resources; water management; maintenance; ecological environmental impact; and indoor environment, receiving an Excellent rating. The company noted that the certification provides objective recognition of the environmental considerations incorporated throughout the development of the manufacturing facility.
LOTTE Biologics incorporated green building elements from the design stage of Songdo Plant 1 and established a management framework targeting an Excellent rating from the preliminary certification stage. Throughout construction, the company continued to review and enhance key assessment areas, including the use of environmentally friendly materials and the introduction of energy-efficient equipment.
With the Excellent G-SEED rating, LOTTE Biologics has further strengthened its foundation for responding to the sustainability requirements of global clients. Starting with Plant 1 of the Songdo Bio Campus, the company plans to expand green building principles to future manufacturing facilities as it continues to advance its ESG management.
