Two of South Korea’s most recognizable television and film stars, Kim Woo-bin and Shin Min-a, are getting married after 10 years together, their agency confirmed this week. Both actors are well known among global K-drama audiences and have built significant fan bases through hit series and film roles.
Shin Min-a, an actress and model famous for romantic comedies such as Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, and Kim Woo-bin, known for roles in The Heirs, Uncontrollably Fond, and Netflix’s Black Knight, have been one of Korea’s most consistently admired public couples since they began dating in 2015.
Their agency, AM Entertainment, said the two “have promised to become lifelong partners, built on years of deep trust.” The wedding will take place on December 20 in Seoul in a small, private ceremony attended only by family and close friends. Local reports indicate the venue will likely be The Shilla Hotel, a luxury hotel frequently used for high-profile weddings in Korea, although the agency did not confirm the location.
The couple’s relationship has long drawn public warmth and support, especially after Kim was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017. He stepped away from acting for several years to undergo treatment, during which Shin remained by his side. Their quiet resilience became widely praised within Korea’s entertainment industry, where public relationships are often short-lived or kept strictly private.
Kim announced the news personally in a handwritten letter to fans on Tuesday. “After many years together, we’ve decided to build a life as a family,” he wrote. “I hope you’ll walk with us so that the path ahead becomes even warmer.”
AM Entertainment noted that both actors will continue their careers following the wedding and thanked fans for their ongoing support.
The marriage of two top stars — each widely known at home and increasingly recognized abroad — has quickly become one of the most talked-about entertainment headlines in South Korea, especially among global K-drama fans who have followed their decade-long relationship.
