Hyundai Motor is bringing a bold new look to the U.S. aftermarket scene with the debut of its Ioniq 9 Off-Road Conceptat SEMA 2025, the world’s largest custom and tuning car exhibition. The company aims to merge classic off-road culture with cutting-edge EV technology, targeting enthusiasts who still appreciate the rugged appeal of combustion-powered vehicles.
The South Korean automaker will showcase the concept from November 4 to 7 (local time) at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in collaboration with the popular automotive YouTube channel BigTime. The Ioniq 9 BigTime Concept was designed by creators Jeremiah Burton and Zach Jobe, known for blending nostalgic design with modern performance.
Burton explained that the concept was inspired by a 1977 vintage cab-over truck, affectionately nicknamed “Bird.” The Ioniq 9 features a two-tone brown and beige body with bold BigTime lettering along the midsection. To emphasize its off-road character, the vehicle is equipped with rugged wheels, all-terrain tires, and an upper light bar.
Hyundai plans to display the concept at the Future Tech Studio located in SEMA’s central hall, highlighting the fusion of next-generation electric drivetrains with true off-road capability.
“We were thrilled to add our own creative spin to the off-road-themed Ioniq 9,” said Jeremiah Burton. “By combining off-road design elements with electric technology, we hope to inspire the next generation of adventure drivers.”
A spokesperson for Hyundai Motor North America added, “The Ioniq 9 BigTime Off-Road Concept shows that our latest EV platform is ready to tackle new terrains. It’s a glimpse into how electric vehicles can be both sustainable and exciting.”
Held annually in Las Vegas each November, the SEMA Show is the world’s premier automotive aftermarket trade event, attracting over 100,000 industry professionals from more than 100 countries. The event features more than 2,000 exhibitors and thousands of customized vehicles. SEMA is also famous for its outdoor live shows, where nearly 1,000 project cars are displayed in action.
