South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang has established a new technology development hub in Hyderabad, India, as part of its strategy to strengthen global technological capabilities and collaborate with the country’s top IT talent.
According to industry sources on the 20th, Coupang opened a new office last month in Cyberabad, Hyderabad’s leading IT district. The hub is expected to become a core center for developing platform technologies, logistics systems, and AI-powered recommendation algorithms, with a particular focus on enhancing Coupang’s deep tech expertise.
Hyderabad is already home to R&D centers for global tech leaders such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, making Coupang’s expansion there a natural choice. The company already operates a technology center in Bengaluru, and the addition of the Hyderabad office underscores Coupang’s broader strategy to build India into a global technology hub.
Coupang’s India development centers support its key markets in Korea and Taiwan, driving advancements in logistics, financial platforms, fraud detection, and cloud infrastructure. The new Hyderabad office will specifically focus on AI and generative AI technologies, aiming to improve operational efficiency across Coupang’s global businesses while enhancing the customer experience. The company is actively recruiting technology talent in both Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
This move reflects Coupang’s continued commitment to technology-driven management. Over the years, the company has invested heavily in software engineering, cloud computing, and data science to transform its logistics and delivery systems.
