Kim Soo-hyun, one of South Korea’s most popular actors known for his roles in hit dramas like My Love from the Star and Moon Embracing the Sun, has sold one of his three luxury apartments in Seoul’s upscale Galleria Fore complex, reportedly earning a profit of about $3.6 million.
Several media outlets reports Tuesday, Kim finalized the sale on July 3 of the unit he purchased in 2014 for approximately $2.2 million. The condo, located in the Seongsu-dong neighborhood, measures about 1,840 square feet of interior space, with a total area of 2,503 square feet.
The timing of the sale raised questions, coming just days after he became embroiled in a multimillion-dollar damages lawsuit filed by a corporate advertiser. The sales contract was signed on June 27, leading to speculation that Kim offloaded the property quickly to raise cash. However, Dispatch reported that the actor had been planning the sale since last year and already had a buyer lined up.
Kim still owns two additional units in the same Galleria Fore complex, each measuring around 3,202 square feet. One of them, which he bought in October 2013 for approximately $2.9 million, was recently subject to a provisional seizure order by South Korea’s Eastern District Court following a claim filed by medical equipment company Classys on May 8. Another creditor, Cuckoo International Berhad of Malaysia, has also filed a claim seeking $72,812 against the same property.
In a statement at the time, his legal team at LKB & Partners said the lawsuit was based on false allegations spread by the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, adding that there was no legal or contractual basis for the damages claim. “Once the investigation reveals the truth, the matter will naturally be resolved,” the firm said.
