Major South Korean construction equipment companies, including HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and Doosan Bobcat, are turning their attention to the recycling industry. At key exhibitions in North America and Europe, they are showcasing waste management and resource circulation equipment, aligning with the ESG trend and targeting the circular economy market as a new growth driver.

According to HD Hyundai Construction Equipment on the 20th, the company will participate in “ReMA (Resource Recycling and Reuse Management Association) 2025,” held from May 12 (local time) for four days in San Diego, California. The event will highlight specialized recycling equipment designed to maximize efficiency in resource recovery and reuse operations.

The company will unveil the △HW250AMH material handler, HX235ALCRD excavator equipped with SAS auto-demolition technology, and △HL960AHDXT heavy-duty wheel loader. The HW250AMH offers superior visibility and operational efficiency with electronic hydraulic flow control and telescopic cabs, while the HX235ALCRD delivers optimized performance for demolition work. The HL960AHDXT features various protective equipment suitable for recycling sites, ensuring a safer work environment.

ReMA, the largest scrap and recycling industry event, succeeding ISRI, brings together companies from diverse resource circulation sectors, including steel, non-ferrous metals, auto dismantling, and electronic waste. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment previously participated in “ISRI (Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries) 2024,” introducing recycling-focused equipment like material handlers, zero-tail-swing excavators, and rough-terrain wheel loaders.

It is rare for construction machinery companies to participate in such events consecutively, signaling HD Hyundai’s long-term strategy to expand into the recycling industry beyond short-term promotional goals.

Doosan Bobcat is also eyeing the recycling market in Europe. At “Bauma 2025” in Munich, Germany, earlier this month, the company drew attention with its TL25.60e electric telehandler concept, designed for applications beyond construction and agriculture, including recycling. Europe’s telehandler demand reaches about 40,000 units annually, with electric equipment rapidly gaining traction, particularly in recycling operations.

Both HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and Doosan Bobcat are shifting their equipment portfolios from traditional construction and agriculture to eco-friendly industries like recycling, logistics, and energy. By incorporating electrification and remote-control technologies into their flagship machinery, they are pushing for expansion into green industries, with recycling as a key focus. These companies are demonstrating ESG-driven transformation in construction machinery, contributing to resource circulation as part of the circular economy.
