French football powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has officially confirmed its investment in Bitcoin.
According to industry sources on the 30th, PSG has decided to include Bitcoin as part of its treasury reserves. The club had already converted a portion of its fiat currency reserves into Bitcoin last year, although the exact amount of its holdings has not been disclosed.
A PSG representative stated, “Over 80% of our fan base is under the age of 34, and we have more than 550 million supporters worldwide. This demographic profile played a key role in our decision to invest in Bitcoin.”
The club further explained, “We view Bitcoin as a financial asset that aligns with the interests and future expectations of our supporters. Just as Bitcoin represents the future of finance, we see ourselves as a club for the next generation.”
This move reflects a broader trend of corporations adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets. According to Bitcoin Treasuries, publicly traded companies now hold a total of $349 billion in Bitcoin — a 31% increase so far this year. This accounts for roughly 15% of Bitcoin’s total circulating supply.
