NVIDIA has joined forces with software company PlusAI  to support Hyundai Motor Company’s development of fully autonomous trucks. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the progress of Level 4 autonomous driving software.

On March 18, PlusAI announced a partnership with NVIDIA and the adoption of the NVIDIA Cosmos World Foundation Model (WFM).

By integrating NVIDIA’s Cosmos WFM, PlusAI aims to enhance the development of its Level 4 autonomous truck software, SuperDrive.

Launched in January, NVIDIA Cosmos WFM is a model designed to simulate real-world physics in a virtual environment, enabling artificial intelligence (AI) training through simulations. For example, if a humanoid robot is introduced into an automotive factory, the AI controlling it can be trained in a virtual factory built with Cosmos WFM. This allows for rapid learning across diverse scenarios without the constraints of physical space and time.

With PlusAI partnering with NVIDIA, Hyundai’s autonomous truck development is also expected to gain momentum. Hyundai is currently testing a large Xcient hydrogen-electric truck equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving technology in collaboration with PlusAI. The company is also working with other major players in the autonomous trucking space, including TRATON Group home to Scania and MAN Truck as well as Iveco.

“Our collaboration with NVIDIA will accelerate the development of autonomous trucks with global OEM partners,” said a PlusAI representative. “With NVIDIA’s technology, we will create an autonomous driving model capable of handling all driving scenarios.”
