Tiffany & Co. is betting on the global reach of South Korean pop culture, naming actress Go Youn-jung as a new ambassador as luxury brands increasingly use Korean entertainment stars to reach younger, international consumers. For U.S. luxury investors and retailers, the appointment highlights how Korea’s entertainment industry is becoming an increasingly valuable marketing channel for global brands seeking growth in Asia and beyond.
The 189-year-old jeweler said the partnership will expand its connection with customers in South Korea and international markets. Go will represent Tiffany’s high-jewelry offerings as well as signature collections including Tiffany Bird on a Rock and Tiffany HardWear in advertising campaigns and other brand activities.
The move reflects a broader shift in luxury marketing. Korean actors and musicians have become influential brand ambassadors as global audiences increasingly consume Korean television, film and music. Luxury houses are seeking to convert that cultural influence into stronger brand recognition and consumer engagement.
Go rose to prominence through Netflix’s “Sweet Home” before building a wider résumé in television and film, including “Alchemy of Souls” and “The Hunt.”
Her breakthrough role came in the Disney+ series “Moving,” in which she played Jang Hee-soo, a high-school athlete with regenerative abilities. The performance combined action, emotional depth and a fashion-forward image, helping her win Best New Actress at the 2024 Blue Dragon Series Awards.
She has since appeared in “Resident Playbook” and Netflix’s “Can This Love Be Translated?” taking on roles across romance, drama and stories centered on contemporary young adults.
Her international profile is set to expand further. She is currently working on the second season of “Moving” and is preparing for the film “Nambeol,” in which she stars opposite Lee Byung-hun as Ae-ryeong, a woman who takes up a sword to rescue her kidnapped younger brother.
For Tiffany, the partnership provides another opportunity to connect its heritage jewelry business with the international audience built around Korean popular culture.
