ITM Semiconductor, a leading company in secondary battery protection circuits, has begun production of its miniaturized battery protection circuit product for smartphones, called the “S-PCM.” The company is expected to accelerate growth in its protection circuit business by supplying these products in large volumes to customers starting in the second half of the year.
On May 7, ITM Semiconductor announced that it had successfully miniaturized and molded its smartphone battery protection circuit and had started mass production.
The newly developed S-PCM applies miniaturization and molding technologies, reducing the size and weight of existing protection circuits by 50%, while maintaining high electrical efficiency and stability. The smaller size of the battery protection circuit offers customers improved space efficiency.
Beginning in the second half of this year, ITM Semiconductor plans to supply the S-PCM in large quantities for a variety of products, including flagship models from its clients.
Since last year, ITM Semiconductor has been supplying battery protection circuits to a major global smartphone manufacturer in South Korea, achieving approximately USD 18 million in revenue from this business. The company expects even higher revenue this year. ITM Semiconductor is also working to expand into new fields such as robotics, defense, and electronic cigarettes, leveraging its battery protection circuit technology.
Na Hyuk-hwi, CEO of ITM Semiconductor, said, “We are continuously developing leading technologies in the secondary battery protection circuit field and are actively entering new markets such as robotics, defense, and electronic cigarettes. We aim to maximize shareholder value through continuous revenue growth and improved profitability.”
