{"id":5713,"date":"2025-08-11T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/54.162.83.219\/?p=5713"},"modified":"2025-08-11T22:13:26","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T05:13:26","slug":"hyundai-halts-nexo-sales-japan-new-hydrogen-suv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/guru.today\/?p=5713","title":{"rendered":"Hyundai Halts Nexo Sales in Japan Ahead of All-New Hydrogen SUV Launch"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/54.162.83.219\/wp-content\/uploads\/nexo_gallery_exterior_front_side_view_01.avif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5715\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo=Hyundai Motor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hyundai Motor has halted sales of its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the Nexo, in Japan, signaling a move to introduce a new hydrogen model in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hyundai Motor Japan (HMJ) has stopped taking orders for the Nexo, which has been available locally since 2022, and is preparing to roll out a replacement model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This suspension is widely seen as a preparatory step for the launch of the \u201cAll-New Nexo,\u201d Hyundai\u2019s completely redesigned hydrogen SUV unveiled in June, marking the first major update in seven years since the original 2018 model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Nexo features Hyundai\u2019s proprietary 110 kW hydrogen fuel cell and a 150 kW electric motor, delivering a maximum driving range of up to 720 kilometers on a single fill-up \u2014 a leading figure for passenger hydrogen vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sales of the first-generation Nexo grew steadily from 727 units in 2018 to more than 8,500 units in 2021, surpassing 10,000 annual sales in 2022. However, increasing competition, including Toyota\u2019s Mirai, led to a dip in average annual sales below 10,000 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The revamped Nexo is expected to be a cornerstone in Hyundai\u2019s push to boost electrified vehicle sales worldwide, especially in Japan, a key market for hydrogen and electric cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hyundai\u2019s sales in Japan rose 146.4% year-over-year through July, totaling 568 units. The recent launch of the electric Casper and the upcoming release of the new Nexo are expected to further accelerate sales growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hyundai recently appointed Toshiyuki Shimegi, an executive with a background in imported cars, as the new president of HMJ.
