Solidigm, the U.S.-based NAND flash subsidiary of SK hynix, has invested in hyperscale data analytics firm Ocient to strengthen its foothold in next-generation AI and cloud infrastructure. The move signals Solidigm’s push to combine high-speed storage solutions with advanced analytics to gain a competitive edge in the data center market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 22, Ocient announced the successful completion of its $132 million Series B funding round, which included new investments from Solidigm, Blue Bear Capital, Allstate Strategic Ventures, and Zelkova Ventures. The round brings Ocient’s total funding to $159.4 million. Solidigm and other new investors contributed $42.1 million in this latest round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Solidigm’s exact investment rationale was not disclosed, the partnership hints at future collaboration between the two companies. Industry analysts suggest combining Solidigm’s storage technology with Ocient’s analytics software could significantly improve large-scale data processing speed and efficiency-key advantages for AI and cloud data centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solidigm is known for its high-speed data storage and access technology, while Ocient specializes in high-performance analytics platforms tailored for AI training and real-time data processing. Ocient’s platform offers rapid analysis of massive datasets, optimizing both cost-efficiency and system performance. The synergy between the two firms could pave the way for solutions that accelerate data processing while reducing operational costs in hyperscale environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with this strategy, Solidigm recently exited the consumer SSD market to focus entirely on enterprise-grade storage. After gradually winding down its consumer business over the past two years, the company officially halted production and sales of the “P41 Plus” and “P44 Pro” models earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, Solidigm is expanding its enterprise SSD lineup targeting high-growth segments like HPC and cloud infrastructure. Last month, at NVIDIA’s GTC 2025, Solidigm unveiled the D7-PS1010 E1.S- the world’s first enterprise SSD with liquid cooling-developed in collaboration with NVIDIA. The product is designed to maximize both cooling efficiency and performance in AI servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This shift aligns closely with its investment in Ocient. As Solidigm focuses on high-performance storage for AI workloads, Ocient’s ultra-fast analytics platform complements the vision by enabling end-to-end optimization in data-heavy applications. Together, they aim to deliver full-stack solutions for data storage and real-time analytics in hyperscale infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Chicago, Ocient is a software company specializing in hyperscale data analytics. It provides high-speed processing of complex and massive datasets, supporting real-time analytics, AI\/ML workloads, and geospatial data applications.
