The move comes as Hanwha seeks to strengthen businesses that are closely connected to global defense demand, advanced manufacturing and energy security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 1952, Hanwha has evolved from a traditional chemical and manufacturing company into one of South Korea\u2019s largest business groups, with operations spanning defense, aerospace, shipbuilding, energy, finance and advanced technology. In recent years, the company has expanded overseas through investments and acquisitions aimed at competing in industries considered strategically important by governments and businesses worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kim Dong-kwan has been at the center of that expansion. Before his promotion, Kim led Hanwha\u2019s defense, naval, aerospace and energy businesses, helping drive the group\u2019s push into global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under his leadership, Hanwha Aerospace has expanded its presence in the international defense market, while Hanwha Ocean has sought growth opportunities in advanced shipbuilding. The company has also increased its focus on aerospace and energy-related businesses as countries seek more resilient supply chains and stronger domestic capabilities in critical industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hanwha\u2019s latest leadership changes also include promotions for Kim Dong-kwan\u2019s two younger brothers. Kim Dong-won, president of Hanwha Life Insurance, was promoted to vice chairman, while Kim Dong-sun, vice president of Hanwha Vision, became president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three brothers have been responsible for different areas of Hanwha\u2019s business portfolio, reflecting a common structure among South Korea\u2019s family-controlled conglomerates, known as chaebol, where members of founding families often oversee separate business divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kim Dong-won has focused on Hanwha\u2019s financial businesses, leading efforts to expand digital services and strengthen global operations. Kim Dong-sun has worked on expanding Hanwha\u2019s retail, leisure and food businesses while also supporting the group\u2019s move into advanced industries such as semiconductor equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside the leadership promotions, Hanwha nominated new executives to lead five affiliates, including businesses involved in defense systems, space technology, semiconductor equipment and investment management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lee Boo-hwan, head of Hanwha Aerospace\u2019s European operations and Precision Guided Munition business, was nominated to lead Hanwha Aerospace\u2019s business division, while Yang Ki-won, former head of Hanwha Corporation\u2019s global business division and Hanwha Impact\u2019s business division, was nominated as CEO of Hanwha Systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kang Jung-hoon, head of Hanwha TotalEnergies\u2019 Daesan plant, was nominated as CEO of Hanwha Impact\u2019s business division, while Lim Dong-jun, former head of Hanwha Asset Management\u2019s U.S. operations and strategic business unit, was nominated to lead Hanwha Asset Management. Kim Ki-chul, CEO of Hanwha Vision, was nominated as CEO of Hanwha Semitech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The reshuffle reflects Hanwha\u2019s broader strategy to compete in industries that are becoming increasingly important in the global economy. As countries invest more heavily in defense capabilities, energy security and advanced technologies, South Korean companies such as Hanwha are seeking to move beyond their traditional manufacturing base and establish themselves as global players in strategic sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The newly nominated CEOs will be officially appointed after approval from each
