BLACKPINK member and solo artist Jisoo has achieved a major streaming milestone, becoming the first Korean female solo artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify, according to data released this week.
The milestone coincides with the release of her new single “Eyes Closed,” which dropped on October 10 at 1 p.m. KST. The track quickly climbed global charts, reaching No. 1 on YouTube Music’s Worldwide Trending chart across 74 countries.
On Spotify, “Eyes Closed” entered the Top Songs Global chart at No. 21, while placing on daily Top Song rankings in 32 countries. The single also topped Apple iTunes charts in 40 regions, and hit No. 1 on China’s QQ Music and Kugou Daily Selling Singles lists, underscoring Jisoo’s global popularity.
Including the new release, Jisoo’s solo catalog has now generated over 1 billion cumulative streams on Spotify — achieved with just eight songs in 925 days, making her the first Korean female solo act to reach the benchmark.
“Eyes Closed” tells the story of two people rediscovering love after emotional pain. The track features British singer Zayn, formerly of One Direction, marking a high-profile East-West collaboration. Fans have praised the song’s emotional depth, Jisoo’s distinctive vocals, and the music video’s cinematic visuals set against a cosmic backdrop.
Jisoo’s accomplishment highlights K-pop’s expanding global footprint and growing demand for solo work from its biggest stars. She continues to balance her career as a member of BLACKPINK, one of the world’s most successful girl groups, while pursuing acting and solo music projects.
