LAS VEGAS — A day before the official opening of CES 2025, LG Electronics unveiled its bold vision for the future of AI during the LG World Premiere event at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Under the theme “Life’s Good 24/7 with Affectionate Intelligence,”LG showcased how its cutting-edge technologies aim to redefine everyday life.
The LG World Premiere serves as a platform for the company to share its innovations and forward-looking strategies with global media and partners. This year’s event drew over 1000 attendees, marking a shift from traditional presentations by introducing a cinematic drama to demonstrate AI’s transformative potential in daily life.
◆ A New Era of AI: “Less Artificial, More Human”
The event kicked off with a video titled “Less Artificial, More Human” and a keynote address by LG CEO William Cho. He highlighted the evolution of AI from transactional systems to technologies that deliver seamless, holistic experiences across physical and virtual environments.
“Empathetic intelligence represents a shift towards technologies that prioritize understanding and connection, setting itself apart by delivering unified experiences across diverse spaces” Cho explained.
◆ The Building Blocks of a Unified AI Experience
Cho identified three pillars essential for achieving this vision:
- Connected Devices
- Capable AI Agents
- Integrated Services
He further underscored LG’s commitment to advancing these areas, announcing a strategic partnership with Microsoft aimed at integrating AI capabilities across various environments, including homes, vehicles, and commercial spaces.
◆ A Partnership to Push Boundaries
Microsoft’s Chief Commercial Officer, Judson Althoff, joined Cho on stage to discuss the collaboration. The partnership will leverage LG’s extensive product ecosystem and customer insights alongside Microsoft’s AI expertise to deliver next-generation empathetic AI solutions.
“We’re thrilled to partner with LG Electronics, a leader in transforming everyday experiences through smart products and services,” said Althoff. “Together, we’ll create innovations that go beyond technology to enrich lives.”
The partnership includes the development of advanced AI agents, such as LG’s portable AI Home Hub, codenamed Project Q9. Powered by Microsoft’s speech recognition and synthesis technology, Q9 will interact seamlessly with users, recognizing various accents, idiomatic expressions, and conversational nuances.
◆ Expanding into AI Data Center Solutions
Althoff also announced plans for collaboration in the rapidly growing AI data center market. LG’s state-of-the-art cooling technologies, such as its Chiller systems, are emerging as critical infrastructure for large-scale data centers, positioning the company as a key player in this space.
◆ A Commitment to AI-Driven Innovation
Concluding his keynote, Cho highlighted LG’s efforts to lead AI-driven transformations not only in the consumer market but also in B2B sectors.
“No matter how AI reshapes our lives, LG will remain committed to delivering the unchanging value of ‘Life’s Good’ through innovative, human-centered technology,” he said.
