Xiaomi has launched its latest augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses 2, aiming to ship more than 300,000 units this year as it takes on Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses.
On April 5, Xiaomi opened a crowdfunding campaign for the new model, which sold out on the first day. Industry sources point to strong demand driven by a 20% early bird discount from the official retail price of $163.
The glasses are managed via Xiaomi’s dedicated Mijia Glasses app and feature a slimmer frame than the previous generation, with temple arms measuring just 5 millimeters thick. The device weighs only 27.6 grams, enhancing comfort for extended use.
Xiaomi also introduced a new hinge system developed over the course of a year, claiming it remains functional after 15,000 bends. The glasses are available in five frame styles, all designed to distribute pressure evenly for long-term wear.
Four built-in microphones, powered by an intelligent algorithm, improve call clarity. A new privacy mode minimizes audio leakage, and the glasses are integrated with Xiaomi’s XiaoAI mobile assistant for hands-free functionality.
An industry insider commented that the launch represents a major milestone in Xiaomi’s expansion into wearable tech.
