South Korea’s leading food company Nongshim’s “Shin Ramen Tomyum” (TOMYUM) is making its way to Japan. As the first global collaboration product of Shin Ramen, it was launched in Thailand in 2023 and is now sold in 25 countries worldwide. The “Shin Ramen Road” continues to stretch across the globe.
According to Nongshim Japan on the 23rd, the company will release Shin Ramen Tomyum starting on the 27th. The cup version will be available at select convenience stores across Japan for an initial trial sale.
Shin Ramen Tomyum combines the flavor of Thailand’s traditional soup dish, tom yum, with Shin Ramen. Nongshim developed the product in collaboration with Jay Fai, a renowned Thai chef. Chef Jay Fai gained fame when her Bangkok restaurant earned a Michelin star in 2018. She further rose to prominence after appearing in the Bangkok episode of Netflix’s ‘Street Food’ series in 2019.
The company describes Shin Ramen Tomyum as a blend of spicy, chewy rice noodle texture, the savory depth of fish sauce, the tanginess of lime juice and lemongrass, and a mix of aromatic spices—recreating the authentic taste of Thailand’s classic tom yum dish.
Ahead of the convenience store launch, Nongshim Japan is ramping up promotions for the Shin Ramen series, emphasizing how it brings together Korean traditional flavors and global tastes.
Nongshim Japan highlighted the unique features of Shin Ramen, Shin Ramen Spicy Chicken, and Shin Ramen Tumba, stating, “We aim to deliver flavors that make everyday life more enjoyable, and we hope these efforts contribute to greater culinary diversity.”
